Prior to entering into business ventures with another party, it is important for a business owner to carry out due diligence on the counterparty and the target business or company.
There are various searches which could be carried out as preliminary steps to check whether there is any red flag. It is important to note that the searches should not be substitute for a proper due diligence process and there is no guarantee on the accuracy of the search results.
Some of the searches which can be conducted online without charges include:
1. Search whether a company, business or LLP is existing on the website of the Companies Commission Malaysia (โ๐๐๐โ).
2. Search whether there is any outstanding compound issued to a businessย or an individualย by the Registrar of Business or to a company or an individual by the Registrar of Companies on CCM website.
3. Search whether a company is in the process of being struck off or has been struck off the register on CCM website.
4. Search for registration of trademark and patent on the Official Portal of Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
